Setting Your Agenda for Consult
14m
In this video you will see one way in which a DBT Consultation Team may set a meeting agenda followed by a segment of offering consultation to a therapist. The person on the agenda is the therapist. The therapist discusses her own views, perspectives, difficulties, problems etc in her work with a given client. Work with the client is the focus of DBT and in DBT consultation team meetings therapy is discussed and examined from the therapist's perspective/viewpoint.
In this video we also see how it is important for consultation team members to be mindful and awake to each other. We focus on what is aid as well as what is not being said. We want to help each other not avoid bringing difficulties up. One way to do that is modelled in this video clip.
Additionally, this video demonstrates the observer role and how anyone at the meeting can make observations, not just the person in that role. We also see V3 and V5 validation, which is sometimes missing in consultation team. This video demonstrates a balance between acceptance and change both of the therapist and client and models assessment prior to problem-solving.
