Collecting routine outcome measures is an essential part of delivering effective DBT. Outcome data is not about judging clients or therapists. It’s about creating a shared understanding of what is changing, what is stuck, and where support can be strengthened.
An important factor in data completion is the client’s understanding of why it matters. When clients grasp the purpose and value of filling in outcome measures, they are more likely to engage fully and provide accurate information. This shared understanding fosters collaboration and enhances the quality of the data collected.
This roleplay intends to show you an example of how to discuss outcome measures in your sessions, by introducing the scores in a supportive way, adjusting treatment based on what you both notice and how to use the information to strengthen commitment and guide next steps.
